For the most part, "LED backlighting" means edge-lighting with white LEDs. That’s what Samsung was doing last year in the extremely successful sets it labeled as "LED TV." That moniker is incorrect and confusing, but it smacks of marketing ...

CES 2010: Westinghouse, My first appointment at the 2010 CES was with Westinghouse to take a look at their 2010 lineup of televisions. What I found was a surprising lineup of highly efficient and stylish edge-lit LED TV about to hit retail. The models were across three series and display sizes ranged from 55” to 24”. Westinghouse LED TVs, My impression of Westinghouse LCD TVs has steadily improved with each
one I've reviewed, so I was eager to see its new line of LED edge-lit
models. The larger screen sizes—42, 46 (pictured), and 55 inches—are
120Hz, and all are quite slender as you would expect from LED edge
lighting. The 46- and 55-inchers will be available in the fourth quarter,
while the smaller sets will ship in April. Prices were not disclosed, but a
company rep said it would be "comparable to CCFL pricing today."

CES: Westinghouse debuts new HDTV lineup, LAS VEGAS-So apparently there's this new technology called LED? Has

to me today and I'm inclined to believe him.
Westinghouse's newest display lineup consists eight models ranging from 24-
inch to 55-inch screen sizes. According to the company, each is about oneinch
thick at the TV's visible edges. Also, the acr...
